WordPress runs a large share of the web, which is exactly why so many WordPress sites end up slow, insecure and impossible to edit without breaking the layout. The fault rarely lies with WordPress itself. It sits with the pile of plugins, the page builder nobody documented and the host chosen on price alone. We build the other way round: a small number of well chosen parts, a theme that can be updated safely, and a login a non technical member of staff can use without fear. Good WordPress work is mostly the removal of things. Fewer plugins. Fewer surprises when a release lands overnight.
What a WordPress build from us includes
A WordPress site has four layers that decide whether it ages well: the theme, the plugin set, the hosting and the content structure. Everything else is decoration. We work through those layers in order, because a beautiful theme on a weak host will still fall over on a busy morning, and a site carrying thirty plugins will still need a developer to change a phone number. The order matters. Improving content on a site the browser struggles to load is time spent on the wrong layer. The brief starts with what your staff need to be able to do unaided once we have gone.
The build divides into four pieces, and the scope of each is agreed in writing before the work starts:

A maintained theme, customised to your brand, or a bespoke build where a theme cannot carry the design. Either way the layout stays editable, and the theme can be replaced later without rebuilding the content.
Plugin discipline
We keep the plugin list short and justify every entry on it. Fewer moving parts means fewer updates that break something on a Friday afternoon.
Speed, backups and security
Caching, image sizing, backups and an update routine set up at launch, so the site does not crawl or get exploited six months later. You get the host login and a note of what each setting does.
Editor training
Your staff learn to add pages, swap images and publish a post in the real interface, on their own logins, before we hand the keys over.
We will not rebuild a site that only needs three fixes. If your installation is sound and the trouble is a slow host or one bloated plugin, we say so and charge for the repairs rather than for a new build. The audit that settles the question is a fixed fee and the findings are yours either way.
Why the stack matters more than the pictures
Two WordPress sites can look identical and behave nothing alike. One loads in under two seconds, survives a plugin update and takes a new page without a developer. The other takes eight seconds on a phone, shows a white screen after an update and needs the agency for every small change. The difference is never the design file. It is the theme, the host and the discipline applied to plugins. That is where the money should go on a WordPress project, and it is the part clients rarely budget for. None of it shows up in a screenshot, which is why it gets skipped.
It is also why we push back on page builders for larger sites. They are quick to start and slow to live with, because they add weight, lock the layout to one plugin and turn a future redesign into a rebuild. For a brochure site that will not change, a builder is fine and we will say so. We will happily put the choice in writing, including the case for the builder where that is genuinely the better answer for your site. For anything meant to grow, a theme built on the standard WordPress editor will outlast it and cost less to maintain.

Should we use a page builder?
For a small site that will rarely change, a builder is a reasonable shortcut and we will build on one if you ask. For a site that will grow, add pages or get redesigned later, a theme built on the standard WordPress editor is lighter and easier to hand over. We will tell you which side of that line your project sits on.
Can you fix our existing WordPress site instead of rebuilding it?
Usually yes. Slow pages, broken menus, a plugin that has been abandoned and a theme nobody can update are all repairable in place. We audit first and give you a list with prices, so you can choose repairs over a rebuild. Only when the foundation is genuinely rotten do we recommend starting again.
Do we own the site, the domain and the hosting?
You own all three, always. We can host and manage the site on a care plan if you prefer that arrangement, but nothing is held hostage. If you move on, the site goes with you, exported, documented and ready to run somewhere else.
How long does a WordPress build take?
A brochure site of four to eight pages usually runs four to six weeks from an agreed brief to launch, and content is nearly always the thing that slows it down. Larger sites with custom post types are phased, so you see the timeline and the cost before each phase begins.
Will the site work properly on phones?
Every build is tested on phones and tablets across the main browsers before launch, and speed is measured on a mobile connection rather than a fast desktop line. Most of your visitors will arrive on a phone, so that is the test that matters and the one we report on.
